INTRODUCTION

We welcome you to the Signal Transduction and Cancer laboratory (TSC for its Spanish acronym), a research unit of the department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of the Faculty of Biological Sciences at Universidad de Concepcion, Chile. Our offices and the laboratory are located on the second floor of the Molecular Biology Building.
The research of the TSC lab is focused on identifying and understanding molecular mechanisms behind phenotypic changes of cancer cells. Cancer is a disease that has taken 8.8 million lives in 2015, and is expected to take the lives of 13 million people worldwide by 2030. We hope that our research helps find targets for the development of efficient therapies against this devastating disease.

01

MISSION

Our mission exceeds the focus of our research. We provide a platform for education and development of our future professors and scientists. The TSC lab gives the opportunity for young people to flourish, to learn, and to find the way to their dreamed future.

02

VISION

To provide significant information for finding cancer cures. We know that cancer cure is difficult. Cancer is multi-factorial, and many genetic and environmental factors integrate to cause the disease. However, thanks to scientific research, knowledge about the disease has improved enormously, helping find therapies and save many lives. Thus, any new information, not matter how little, will help a lot.
